I can be a bit long-winded.  I’ll make it my goal to break stories into pieces.  It will keep someone coming back, even if that someone is just me!
So I am often asked, “when did you first get into horses?”  The answer – in the beginning.  Kind of like how God has always been around, for as long as I’ve been around and as long as I can remember having thoughts, all I ever thought was, “horse”.  To make it even more unusual, neither of my parents were horse people.  I didn’t even grow up riding my friends or family member’s horses.  The horse has always been a part of me, something that I wanted before I could even talk.  My mom has a picture to prove that – maybe I can get her to scan it and send it to me.  My dad was a CPA.  CPA = cheapskate.  I didn’t get coke and popcorn at the movies or cotton candy at the fair.  The one thing they couldn’t deny me at a local carnival – my pony ride!  I could probably count on 1 hand the times I had a pony ride as child, but 1 hand was enough to feed the desire.
All I remember as a young child, is how deep my desire was to be with horses.  -not like the normal little girl “[squeal] I want a PONY!!!”  ALL I wanted was to be with horses.
This desire has completely shaped me inside and out.  I believe God used this passion to teach me and mold me.
Believe it or not, my passion for horses turned me into a good student.  Because my parents withheld the horse access for so long (12 excruciating years), I would spend any spare time I had with my nose in a book.  When my nose was in a book, I could be chased by a huge bull on a trail ride with my best friends, dig a painful rock out of my favorite horse’s hoof, gallop down the backstretch to win the KY Derby, and valiantly save the beloved lesson ponies from a treacherous flaming barn.
In my first 12 years of life without even understanding it I experienced “The Strangest Secret” that Earl Nightingale taught 40 years before I was born.  If you focus on something, believe something, desire it so badly that you can feel it happening, the universe simply cannot stop it.  I knew how to tack up a horse before I ever lifted a saddle to a horse’s back, because I had envisioned it countless times.
My 1st blog post is nearly finished, and my lesson for the day – decide what you want (side note:  it needs to be something good that brings good to yourself and others around you).  Believe that it will happen.  Wake up every morning and spend a few minutes seeing it, feeling it, and hearing it as if it has happened.  When you do this, it WILL happen.

Soli Deo gloria
